Remembering Jamie, A Local Gem

Jamie Grammes – October 18th, 1959 – March 25th, 2020

“I started coming into Normas before it was Normas. Jamie always made everyone feel ‘at home’…..She was the reason why many came to Normas,  and why they kept coming back. That certainly was true for me, the food was always great but she was family. She was kind and considerate and always knew exactly what a regular wanted and often had it at the table before you sat down. She ran a tight ship and was stern when she needed to be. She will be missed by all who knew her.” – David Jaindl – Jaindl Farms and Companies

“Jamie was always one of my go-tos to tell her anything exciting. She always cared. We were like family. When Jamie asked me to fill in during some summer weeks, I was ecstatic. She always had my back, and I always had hers. It is truly hard to believe she is gone. She waited for me to get a job, and I finally did. I so much wish I could see her excitement.” – Alexa Huzela

“We have been going every week for 31 years. She was always so happy and nice. It was a pleasure always going to Norma Js. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary. She remembered and always asked about our milestones. Sometimes we would go 4x a week just to see Jamie. Her holiday decorations were memorable.” – Tom and Theresa Huzela

“Jamie had a unique way of making every person who sat in a booth or at the counter feel special – like family getting together on Christmas Eve. Even my four-year-old grandson would always ask when he could “go see Miss Jamie.” Because of her, patrons also became friends. It was like a real-life “Cheers” for breakfast. We miss you Jamie.” – Joseph Zator – Zator Law

“Jamie Grammes was an extremely kind and caring person that I had the good fortune to converse with prior to beginning my work day, each day, for the past 20+ years. Her genuine concern for others and welcoming personality was infectious. She cared deeply about her customers, the Parkland community and the Parkland School District. Her sudden passing has left a void in the lives and hearts of those that knew her. She will be missed but not forgotten.” – Richard T. Sniscak – Superintendent, Parkland School District

“From ever since I can remember I’ve been going to Norma J’s with my family. It became our favorite breakfast spot mainly because of Jamie’s bubbly and friendly personality and of course the awesome food. Jamie quickly became family to us and she made everyone feel like a regular. I would walk in and she would just say, “you want the usual?” We will always miss her infectious laugh and beautiful smile.” – Dan Cressman – D.E.
