Hal Mante discovered his interest in fencing in 1974 with chain link fence installation. That led to him opening his own company, American Fence, in 1983. While you are invited to visit the store during business hours to take advantage of the company’s exemplary customer service, their outdoor display yard is open twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Over 150 samples of fence, railing, and flagpoles are set up so that customers can see how products look in an outdoor environment. The samples are clearly labeled with manufacturer names and specifications so the customer can snap a photo to easily remember their choices.

On September 11, 2012, American Fence employees erected a 30′ by 50′ American flag outside their office. This enormous flag, which is the largest hanging flag in the Lehigh Valley, stretches almost as tall and as long as the office building. Hal and Joyce are happy that the flag has become a popular backdrop for locals to come take photos with servicemen and women, first responders, company, and family photos. It was the addition of this giant American flag that has become such a focal point of their business that inspired the Mantes to change the name of the business to American Fence & Flag.
The business is a distributor of Annin Flagmakers, another family-owned business since 1847. Common sizes and styles of flags, decorations, and flag hardware are usually in stock.
