Keeping Your Pet Comfortable & Fear Free

Creature Comforts at Runaway Farm has completed the renovation of eleven new kennels in a fear-free blue color. Despite a common belief that pets can’t see color, they do but on a muted level and just as colors on the bluer end of the spectrum are relaxing to us, our pets find blue to be more relaxing as well. Our kennel walls are constructed of a fiber-reinforced plastic which is a USDA Certified antimicrobial surface that does not harbor bacteria. Each kennel in our fear-free room is also completely sealed to the tile floor stopping any kind of cross-contamination of fluids from a neighboring guest.

Although not all of our kennels are in the fear free blue color, they are all private. Each kennel is divided with a solid partition so there is no direct contact with another dog; this in itself reduces stress.

Our dog boarding area has four kennel rooms which reduces the total number of dogs in any one room resulting in less noise, less stress. This also allows us to have separate rooms for small, medium, and large dogs. Each room also has some larger, wider kennels so dogs from the same family can stay together making them feel more “at home”.

During your pet’s stay at Creature Comforts at Runaway Farm, he/she will be leash walked three times per day for exercise and outside potty time. Once approved, daycare is available Monday thru Friday from 9 am to 5 pm for additional exercise. Kuranda® raised “cot-style” beds are provided for each guest’s added comfort, however, we welcome you to bring a small fleece blanket or a towel from home that has a familiar smell of home if you wish.

For the safety of all guests at Creature Comforts at Runaway Farm, vaccines are required to be up to date at least two week prior to arrival. Required vaccines are Canine Distemper with Lepto, Rabies, Bordatella (kennel cough), and Canine Influenza. In addition to vaccines, a check of the stool for intestinal parasites, with negative results, is also required annually.

Cat’s are welcomed too…We have a separate quiet cat room with eight condos, two foot square in size, that overlooks our flower garden frequently visited by butterflies, birds, and squirrels. Each condo has upper and lower port holes that can expand your cat’s room to another condo giving more space to lounge and exercise while waiting for your return from your trip.

Want to tour our facility? We welcome you to visit us for a tour anytime during our normal business hours of 7 am to 7 pm Monday thru Friday, 8 am to 1 pm Saturday, and 8 am to 10 am or 4 pm to 6 pm Sunday.
